Phish
Born in 1983 at the University of Vermont the original band consisted of Trey Anastasio and Jeff Holdsworth on guitar, Mike Gordon on bass, and Jon Fishman on the drums.
Percussionist Marc Daubert joined in the fall of 1984 but only stayed a few months. Page McConnell joined on keyboards in the fall of 1985 and Holdsworth left after graduating in 1986 leaving the lineup that lasted the rest of the bands career.
Over the years the band gained a huge loyal following second only to the Grateful Dead. In fact many Dead Heads crossed over after the death of Jerry Garcia in 1995. The band toured regularly and held yearly festivals at various east coast venues.
In October 2000 at a show at the Shoreline Amphitheater in Mountain View, California they left the stage without saying a word after their performance as the Beatles “Let It Be” played. I was at that show and the rumor spread quickly through the crowd that they had broken up. The next day their website announced that in fact they would be taking an extended hiatus.
They reformed in 2002 releasing an album and doing some sporadic touring leading to their final festival in 2004 after which they called it quits.
So now it’s time to go Phishing!

Upon hearing the following song in concert I evolved from a curious onlooker to a true Phish head. From then on I made every show within 150 miles of my home.
One of my concert companions and fellow Phish head would sign along with his own version of the words: “Wash your face and drive me to Valencia”

Something to Tide You Over
The ear infections are subsiding and I can once again hear something other than the ringing in my ears. So here's a little something to tide you over until the next regular show.

Show Delayed -
Eardrums on strike.
Due to a screaming ear infection and the inability to hear properly due to my eardrums bulging out - this weeks show will be delayed at least until I no longer feel like this guy. In the meantime check out my favorite radio station, KVMR out of Nevada City, California. They play a mix of just about everything from folk to classical, bluegrass to jazz. Saturday nights there you can catch a couple hours of the Grateful Dead. Check out their schedule or click the "listen" link and be surprised!

The Blues
A short note: I have temporarily shortened the number of videos in my shows. I would like them to be more inclusive, but recently certain browsers seem to be having problems with playing these videos. With Firefox I’ve found a need to keep moving the mouse in order for the videos to load and play properly. I’m hoping this shorter list will improve the performance until this issue can be resolved. Internet Explorer is working better for viewing and the Avant browser has been reported to have no problems.
If you are having similar problems please comment which browser and operating system you are using. Also if they are playing properly I would like to know so I can try to figure out this problem.
Update - this seems to be an issue with Firefox. This is very disappointing as it is my preferred browser. In the meantime I must suggest using Internet Explorer or other browsers to view the videos on this page. I will update this message if and when Firefox resolves this problem.
Tonight I’ll take you on a trip into an American standard, so sit back, grab the tissues and get down with the Blues.
